Robby Adamson is a FIDE Master from Tucson, AZ, where he is a partner in a law firm, practicing in the area of estate planning. Robby is best known in the chess community for coaching Catalina Foothills High School to three national high school championships in the span of four years (2005, 2007, & 2008), and 7 National Titles overall. He also has coached 2 other teams to national titles. Most recently, Robby was on the cover of Chess Life (March 2009), which chronicled the success of Foothills High School as well as Robby’s commitment to chess in Arizona.

Robby also runs the Western Invitational Chess Camp each summer in July, which brings together some of the brightest scholastic minds together from around the country for a week of intense chess study. The instructors in the camp have included GM’s Larry Christiansen, Gregory Kaidanov, Alexander Onischuk, Yuri Shulman, Alejandro Ramirez, as well as IM’s Levon Altounian IM Mark Ginsburg, FM Danny Rensch and NM Leo Martinez (all on the roster of the AZ Scorpions). His camp is considered the most prestigious camp in the US.

Individually, Robby is a three time National individual champion, as well as team leader of 3 High School National titles with his own high school – University High School.

In 2008, the first year the AZ Scorpions competed in the USCL, Robby finished +2 overall on board 3, with a performance rating of 2450 – something he hopes to build on.
